Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a system of instruction that will develop each student's physical and mental well being, utilizing Taijiquan and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts techniques and training involving physical exercise, breathing, and meditation. Our goal is to provide instruction to build discipline, self-respect, and awareness of ourselves, along with respect for others. Our teaching is presented with a positive attitude that stresses flexibility, balance, and self-defense, as well as coordination of the mind and body.

Current News and Events at the Center

 

  • INTERNATIONAL WOMENS GROUP: Shifu Harris was invited to teach a short 6-Step Taiji form to the International Womens Group of Hudson on Monday, November 13th in Twinsburg. We had a great evening, and the 19 women did a great job in learning the short form. Please see our Photo Gallery for a picture of the group.
  • MASTER YANG VISITED THE CENTER: Master Yang visited the Center on Saturday, November 11th. He worked with our senior students on their Bagua Dao form, and with our Beginner students on their 32 Taiji form. He also taught classes at the JCC. We look forward to Master Yang's return visit for World Taiji Day in ASpril of 2024.
  • TAIJIQUAN: Classes continue at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls. We are also holding in-person classes for the NAT Advanced students at the Center on Tuesdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM, and for the NAT Beginner students on Thursdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM.  Classes at the Natatorium are held on Wednesday evenings. The Advanced class runs from 4:45 to 5:45 PM and the Beginner class runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Please contact the Center if you would like additional information about these classes.
  • AKRON BEACON JOURNAL ARTICLE: Shifu Harris and the Center were featured in an article in the Akron Beacon Journal. Click on this Center link to view the article.
  • ISSHINRYU KARATE: Melissa Argilan continues to offer Isshinryu Karate at the Center. This is a separate program, and not part of Body-Mind Harmony's curriculum. Her classes continue to grow so please contact Melissa at 330-752-3528 for more information and checkout the school's website: www.cuyahogakarate.com
