Food combining is important for proper digestion and elimination, as well as for energy, and the rebuilding of the body. Ever notice when you have gas and indigestion you often have a headache and feel tired or sluggish? There is a definite relationship between how you feel and what and how much you ate. Think how you feel when you have diarrhea or are constipated, do you ever wonder the reasons for this? In the Chinese five-element theory, it is stated that when a person's thoughts are backed up, so is the large intestine. The reverse is also true, one affects the other. When a person can't think straight or make good decisions, the liver is not functioning correctly. Just look at how alcohol affects a person's liver and how they think and react. When a person is not flowing in life, the kidneys are having problems. With water retention, thoughts and movement are backed up.
When you talk about diet, there is no way to separate it from the complete body-mind system. I often look to nature for guidance. When it comes to eating, this is what I observed. A cow only eats grasses, the panda bear lives on leaves and greens. The ape, one of the strongest and largest animals, is a vegetarian. When sick, most animals will only drink water and rest. Lions and the cat family, as well as snakes, eat one item at a time and then rest. Some birds eat only seeds and the robin only worms (seeds sometimes).
I know we are humans. As humans, God gave us a brain which enables us to choose many foods to enjoy. Our ability to choose, and choose wisely is reflected in our health. The choice is yours, EAT TO LIVE OR LIVE TO EAT. I will include a chart for proper food combining. Keep in mind the following things. Fruits digest the fastest,1/2 hour to 1 hour, so they are best eaten alone! Carbohydrates take at least 2-4 hours. Proteins 4-6 hours, and some meats as long as 8 hours. Fats take even longer and only digest in the small intestine. Take some time, 2-3 weeks and do your best at proper food combining and see the difference it does make. You have everything to gain and nothing to lose (except a few extra pounds).
