Sifu Says...

Super Foods, Superior Health

I would like to talk a little this month about what many call Super-Foods. I consider these types of foods to be just that, Super or Superior. The addition of these to your family's diet is simple, easy and fast.

A lot of people tell me that they take vitamins. They say, " I know these are good for me, I just don't remember to take them." That's funny, people never tell me they forget to eat. Super-Foods are a way to eat and add Superior health benefits at the same time.

Essential Fatty Acids (EFA) are just that, they are essential to every cell in your body. Think about that, EVERY CELL, that is somewhere over 70-trillion (but who's counting?). Fatty Acids are the foundation. They are essential for the production and rebuilding of cells. EFAs are essential for the skin and hair, normal development of the brain and nerve impulses. They are good for the prevention of arthritis, lowering cholesterol, and help combat candidiasis, cardiovascular disease, eczema, and psoriasis, just to name a few.

So where do we get EFAs? The best sources are the following, Flaxseeds and Flaxseed oil,Grape Seed oil, Fish oil, Borage Seed oil, raw nuts, seeds, walnut oil (cold pressed), and deep water fish. Remember, heat destroys these oils. They can be added to cereals, salads, taken in capsules, and put into blender drinks as easy ways to consume these good oils. They are sometimes called the Omega 3, Omega 6, and Omega9 oils or fatty acids.

Often we hear, "Go for the gold". I want to change it to go for the green and I am not talking salads. What I mean is Chlorophyll, Spirulina, Blue Green Algae and grasses that bear grains, like barley, wheat, alfalfa and oats. Keep in mind that green grasses, from the above, are ones that are harvested before the grain is formed. These High Powered grasses contain, protein, a wide range of vitamins and minerals, including folic acid, vitamin C, vitamin A, boron, silica, other minerals, and fiber. They are high in potassium, manganese and the carotenoids , like beta-carotene, lutein, and lycopene. Green foods help to create a more alkaline environment and provide oxygen to the body. This is one of our best defenses against disease. Chlorophyll is a natural deodorizer and disinfectant. On a serving to serving ratio, most green foods have more protein than meat. Do you realize the amount of land, and grains it takes to make one pound of meat? ( let alone what is added to the meat). If you did, you probably wouldn't eat it. Use of Spirulina, another blue green algae, dates back to the Aztecs and Africans who used it for trade with the Spanish. This algae is full of protein, vitamins A, B, and K, trace minerals, potassium, beta-carotene, and gamma-linoleic acid, one of the EFAs. Chlorella, a single cell green algae, has been used in Japan for the last 45 years. Chlorella contains more chlorophyll than any other green food, 20 times more than alfalfa, 10 times more than spirulina and at least 8 times more than wheat grass. It is also said to remove heavy metals from the body and prevent liver damage, decrease cholesterol and prevent cancer. Are Green foods worth adding to your diet? I think the question answers itself. Green foods come in powder, liquid (mint flavored even), and in pills and capsules. I use green foods every day. I mix the liquid into water with lemon juice and also take Sun Chlorella in pill form. There are days I don't get to my vitamins either. It's okay, because I know that by taking these, I keep myself well covered. I also take lecithin, soy protein, and an amino acid formula.

I have studied nutrition for close to 27 years, and I know Green food makes a difference. It recently helped a friend of mine that had three kinds of cancer all at once. It also helped another person I know that had two kinds at once, as well as many people with everything from colds to sore joints. If you give the body the right foods, it will heal. I have seen the proof. The body can take a lot, yet there comes a time when it cries out for help. I don't believe in waiting for that time, prevention is the best cure. I know people who say they eat a balanced diet. I eat good food, they say. But the proof is in you. Ask yourself if you have the energy to do all you want, how often are you sick? Are you the correct weight? How good is your vision, your bowel movements, your muscle tone? There are no exceptions, we all have the right to perfect health. But it is a matter of priorities.

Evidence was presented at the World Agricultural Forum's 2001 World Congress on May 22, 2001. It suggested that eating a balanced diet is not good enough. This was the conclusion of DR. H. DeWayne Ashmead as well as Ministers, Ambassadors, and corporate leaders from around the WORLD. A report given by Ashmead stated that because of widespread mineral deficiencies in the world's crops and soils today, it is now more than ever, critically essential to the health of the human race to supplement and to fortify our foods and the soil for proper balance. Ashmead presented findings from many countries around the globe that showed a direct correlation between high incidences of mineral deficiencies and disease."

So what can you do? Add lecithin to salads and cereals, use the right oils, eat soy products, combine correctly, put liquid chlorophyll in your drinking water, and take a good multi-vitamin mineral supplement. You can do this. I realize for some it is a change. Try to see it in a positive light as a way to protect, enhance, and be in control of God's gift to you, your body, the temple of the soul.

So people say to me, "you take a lot of supplements, how can you afford it?" My response is how can you afford NOT to, pay yourself or pay the doctor. But if you don't take care of your body, where are you going to live?
