Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a system of instruction that will develop each student's physical and mental well being, utilizing Taijiquan and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts techniques and training involving physical exercise, breathing, and meditation. Our goal is to provide instruction to build discipline, self-respect, and awareness of ourselves, along with respect for others. Our teaching is presented with a positive attitude that stresses flexibility, balance, and self-defense, as well as coordination of the mind and body.

Current News and Events at the Center

  • THE CENTER IS NOW OPEN: On Friday, January 11th, we signed the lease to our new Center. The contractors completed the majority of the work on Friday, February 1st. We moved all of our martial arts items out of storage and to the Center on Saturday, March 8th.  After close to thirty years the Center left its location on West Ave in Tallmadge at the end of October 2018. The new Center is located at 1923 Bailey Rd, Suite B, Cuyahoga Fall, OH 44221. Classes have resumed on our regular schedule; see Schedule of Classes.
  • WU TANG "HALL OF FAME" TOURNAMENT: Master Yang Xiao Dong (Tony Yang) will be holding his 21st Tournament on Staurday, October 5th at the Shaw Jewish Community Center. Please check his website for more details.
  • WORLD TAIJI & QIGONG DAY 2019: World Taiji and Qigong Day was on Saturday, April 27th. The Center celebrated WTCQD at the Akron Art Museum, One South High St. The program was lead by Nancy Gardner. We had a beautiful and a wonderful turnout. Please go to our Photo Gallery page to see pictures of students playing Taiji and doing Qigong exercises.
  • CLASSES WITH MASTER YANG: Master Yang came to the Center on Saturday, April 20th. This was a day when he checked many of the forms for the senior students. He checked several of our  Bagua forms including Bagua Fist, Bagua Tight Hand, and Bagua Deer Horn Knives. He reviewed and clarified several of our Qigong exercises.
  • SHIFU HARRIS TEACHES 8 STEP TAIJI AT STEM+M: Shifu Harris was invited to participate in the mindfulness program at the Bio-Med Science Academy STEM+M school on the NEOMED campus in Rootstown. He taught the students a short 8 Step Yang style Taiji form. The program also included Yoga and Meditation.
  • SHIFU HARRIS AND STEM: Shifu Harris participated this year in the beautiful Akron STEM School's Chinese New Year celebration. Liang Laoshr put together a great program and the students were outstanding. They did the Dragon Dance, the Lion Dance, the Fan Dance, the Umbrella Dance, and much more. See the Photo Gallery for some pictures. Later this month Shifu Harris will be teaching 8 Step Taiji to the STEM school on the NEOMED Campus.
  • CHINESE NEW YEAR 2019: Chinese New Year for 2019 was on Tuesday, February 5th. This is the year of the Pig/Boar. The Center held its 13th annual Chinese New Year celebration on Saturday, February 9th at the Royal Buffet and Grille. We had close to 40 people in attendance. We had great food and a great time.   • TAIJIQUAN: classes are continuing at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls. The Natatorium classes are held on Wednesday evenings. The Advanced and Intermediate class runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM and the Beginners class runs from 7:00 to 8:00 PM. Please contact the Center if you would like additional information about classes.
