Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a system of instruction that will develop each student's physical and mental well being, utilizing Taijiquan and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts techniques and training involving physical exercise, breathing, and meditation. Our goal is to provide instruction to build discipline, self-respect, and awareness of ourselves, along with respect for others. Our teaching is presented with a positive attitude that stresses flexibility, balance, and self-defense, as well as coordination of the mind and body.

Current News and Events at the Center

 

  • WORLD TAIJI & QIGONG DAY 2023: Students from the Center for Body-Mind Harmony met with fellow students from the Shaw JCC and the Cuyahoga Falls NAT at the Shaw JCC on Saturday, April 29th to celebrate WTCQD. Even though Master Yang was not able to join us, we still had a great turnout. Please see our Photo Gallery for pictures
  • GREAT LAKES MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT: On Staurday, April 22nd, several students participated in the Great Lakes Martial Arts Tournament in Maple Heights. The students competed in Taiji and Praying Mantis forms. The students played very well and every student placed in their division.
  • TAIJIQUAN: Classes continue at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls. We are also holding in-person classes for the NAT Advanced students at the Center on Tuesdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM, and Thursdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM for the NAT Beginner students. Classes at the Natatorium are held on Wednesday evenings. The Advanced class runs from 4:45 to 5:45 PM and the Beginner class runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Please contact the Center if you would like additional information about these classes.
  • AKRON BEACON JOURNAL ARTICLE: Shifu Harris and the Center were featured in an article in the Akron Beacon Journal. Click on this Center link to view the article.
  • ISSHINRYU KARATE: Melissa Argilan continues to offer Isshinryu Karate at the Center. This is a separate program, and not part of Body-Mind Harmony's curriculum.
