Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a system of instruction that will develop each student's physical and mental well being, utilizing Taijiquan and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts techniques and training involving physical exercise, breathing, and meditation. Our goal is to provide instruction to build discipline, self-respect, and awareness of ourselves, along with respect for others. Our teaching is presented with a positive attitude that stresses flexibility, balance, and self-defense, as well as coordination of the mind and body.

Current News and Events at the Center

  • COVID-19: The Center is fully open with no mask requirement for all students.
  • KUNG FU EXPERIENCE: Summer Camp at the Natatorium included a "Kung Fu" experience for the kids this year. Shifu Harris, along with Jenna Fisher from Kent State, taught the kids several stances, kicks, and punches. They put those all together into a short martial arts form. The highlight of the afternoon was having the kids practice their kicks and punches on the clappers. See the Photo Gallery for some pictures.
  • WORLD TAIJI DAY: Master Yang returned to the Center on Saturday, April 23rd and taught/reviewed our basic Praying Mantis exercises. On Saturday, April 30th, he hosted our World Taiji and Qigong Day celebration at the JCC. We had over 40 students and guest attend this celebration. Please check our Photo Gallery for pictures.
  • TEACHING WU BU QUAN: Shifu Harris taught a Shaolin form called Wu Bu Quan to local area Middle Schools and High Schools. Wu Bu Quan is a beginning Wu Shu form that Shifu Harris learned while training at the Shaolin Temple. Recently he taught his 8-Step Yang Style Taiji form and Wu Bu Quan to students at Wooster College.
  • AKRON BEACON JOURNAL ARTICLE: Shifu Harris and the Center were featured in an article in the Akron Beacon Journal. Click on this Center link to view the article.
  • ISSHINRYU KARATE: Melissa Argilan continues to offer Isshinryu Karate at the Center. This is a separate program, and not part of Body-Mind Harmony's curriculum. Her classes continue to grow so please contact Melissa at 330-752-3528 for more information and checkout the school's website:
  • TAIJIQUAN: Classes continue at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls. We are also holding in-person classes for the NAT Advanced students at the Center on Tuesdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM, and Thursdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM for the NAT Beginner students. Classes at the Natatorium are held on Wednesday evenings. The Advanced class runs from 4:45 to 5:45 PM and the Beginner class runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Please contact the Center if you would like additional information about these classes.
