Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a system of instruction that will develop each student's physical and mental well being, utilizing Taijiquan and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts techniques and training involving physical exercise, breathing, and meditation. Our goal is to provide instruction to build discipline, self-respect, and awareness of ourselves, along with respect for others. Our teaching is presented with a positive attitude that stresses flexibility, balance, and self-defense, as well as coordination of the mind and body.

Current News and Events at the Center

 

  • MASTER YANG VISITS THE CENTER: On Saturday, October 5th and 12th, Master Yang visited the Center for Body-Mind Harmony. During his visit we reviewed several of our Bagua forms with him. He then taught us the two-person fighting form for Xiao Kai Men. We look forward to seeing Master Yang in April of 2025
  • STUDENTS TO PERFORM DEMO AT THE FALLS LIBRARY: Several students from the Center will be doing a martial arts demo at the Cuyahoga Falls Library on Saturday, January 25th, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. This will be in conjunction with the start of the Lunar New Year celebrations
  • SHIFU HARRIS TEACHES AT SAGE: During the month of January 2025, Shifu Harris will be teaching an intro to Qigong and Taiji coures at SAGE in Hudson, OH.
  • TAIJIQUAN: Classes continue at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls. We are also holding in-person classes for the NAT Advanced students at the Center on Tuesdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM, and for the NAT Beginner students on Thursdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM.  Classes at the Natatorium are held on Wednesday evenings. The Advanced class runs from 4:45 to 5:45 PM and the Beginner class runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Please contact the Center if you would like additional information about these classes.
  • AKRON BEACON JOURNAL ARTICLE: Shifu Harris and the Center were featured in an article in the Akron Beacon Journal. Click on this Center link to view the article.
  • ISSHINRYU KARATE: Melissa Argilan continues to offer Isshinryu Karate at the Center. This is a separate program, and not part of Body-Mind Harmony's curriculum.
