Our Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide a system of instruction that will develop each student's physical and mental well being, utilizing Taijiquan and Traditional Chinese Martial Arts techniques and training involving physical exercise, breathing, and meditation. Our goal is to provide instruction to build discipline, self-respect, and awareness of ourselves, along with respect for others. Our teaching is presented with a positive attitude that stresses flexibility, balance, and self-defense, as well as coordination of the mind and body.

Current News and Events at the Center

 

  • WORLD TAIJI & QIGONG DAY at the JCC: On Saturday, April 26th, students from the Jewish Community Center (JCC), Center for Body-Mind Harmony, Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium, and Summa Health Wellness Center will gather to play Taiji (Tai Chi) and Qigong in an effort to generate positive energy throughout the world. We will play several Taiji forms starting at 10:00am. This will be in conjunction with many other taiji practioners thoughout the world.
  • GREAT LAKES TOURNAMENT: Several CBMH students competed in the Great Lakes Tournament held in Maple Heights, OH. The students played very well and won several first places medals. See our Photo Gallery for pictures of the students
  • SHIFU HARRIS TEACHES AT SAGE: During the months of April and May 2025, Shifu Harris will be teaching Seated 24 Forms Taiji at SAGE in Hudson, OH.
  • TAIJIQUAN: Classes continue at the Natatorium in Cuyahoga Falls. We are also holding in-person classes for the NAT Advanced students at the Center on Tuesdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM, and for the NAT Beginner students on Thursdays, 5:30PM to 6:30PM.  Classes at the Natatorium are held on Wednesday evenings. The Advanced class runs from 4:45 to 5:45 PM and the Beginner class runs from 6:00 to 7:00 PM. Please contact the Center if you would like additional information about these classes.
  • AKRON BEACON JOURNAL ARTICLE: Shifu Harris and the Center were featured in an article in the Akron Beacon Journal. Click on this Center link to view the article.
  • ISSHINRYU KARATE: Melissa Argilan continues to offer Isshinryu Karate at the Center. This is a separate program, and not part of Center for Body-Mind Harmony's curriculum.
