Martial Arts for Youth

Our youth classes focus on balance, flexibility, strength, coordination, aerobic conditioning, and fun. The students learn basic kicks, punches, stances, and combined exercises. They also learn the traditional Northern Chinese Praying Mantis system. This system consists of Ba Bu (Eight Step) and Qi Xing (7 Star). As students progress, they learn many different forms such as Little Tiger Swallow (Xiao Hu Yen), Seven Hand (Qi Shou), Power Chopping (Li Pi), etc. Students will also be taught various weapons as their skills improve. These weapons include the staff (gun), the saber (dao), the straight sword (jian), and many others.

The concept here at the Center is to teach the students respect, discipline, and courtesy for themselves as well as for others. Martial Arts is not about what you can do to another, but what you can do for yourself.

Classes are held on Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 6:55 PM at the Center for Body-Mind Harmony.
