Yang Style Taijiquan

Here at the Center we teach several different Yang style Taiji forms. Our basic 32 Movement form was abstracted by Grandmaster Liu Yun Qiao

Our Yang styles of Taijiquan come to us through Song Wei-Yi, a Master of Wu Dong Sword (Jian) style. Song Wei-Yi taught General Xiang Xong Wu. General Xiang was one of the most famous disciples of Grandmaster Li Su Wen.

General Xiang taught Grandmaster Liu Yun Qiao this old version of Yang style Taijiquan as well as the sword (jian) and broadsword (dao) techniques. Grandmaster Liu later modified this Yang style of Taijiquan into the 32 Movement form we practice today.

In 2013 we added the 24 Simplified or Beijing form to our curriculum. It is the most popular form played in China and throughout the world. It is the one Taiji forms that must be played to completion in competition.
